Internet Timelines - From the Mind of One of the Two Remaining Freshmen

Well, first and foremost, we lost half the class. Half of those students that we lost between the 20th and the 25th were freshman, which leaves only Max and I. Which leads me to ask the question, "was I too stupid not to take the hint that my classmates so blatantly gave me?" or was it because I refused to give in and back down from a challenge like the rest of my classmates so hastily did? I personally like to think that it was the latter of the two and that the inexperience that my youth holds won’t end up hindering my performance in this class. I have already experienced and seen firsthand that it doesn’t matter what year you are as long as you have group members that have experience and are willing to do what they can to help you out. Being paired with two upper classmen I felt not only welcomed and felt that I was actually part of the group, I also felt that I was better able to understand the material, work harder on our project than had I been paired with a group of students from my class (that and if I had I would have been pretty lonely come presentation day).
Now on to the presentations, the FIRST GROUP I felt did a tremendous job of narrowing the task that was presented to us to a more focused and precise area of study which, of course, was the Social Networking aspect of the internet. Each of the group members were all knowledgeable about the particular area of Social Networking that they divided among themselves. Their use of the PowerPoint medium was very well executed. Their slides looked professional and clean, I would have liked to see them pull less information off the slides, it seemed like they were reading the slides verbatim most of the time, but other than that small little “nit-pick” the rest of the project was very well done.
The SECOND GROUP I felt, had the most creative way of presenting their information, that being said I’m not sure how much work the group as a whole did. The video was extremely elaborate and the speaker in the video had a good handle on the information as well as sounding firm and informative throughout the entire video. But that is where I had a problem with the method that they chose. We only heard from one group member, the other people in the group did speak but they were mostly making end comments on the tail of the video about cell phones or something of that nature, we never once heard from them or heard them speak about what they knew about the topic. Now in no way am I slamming the group members of group two who didn’t speak in the video or am I saying that they did not work on the video because that isn’t something that I have any idea about, all I am saying is that it would have been nice to switch up the speaker in the video to hear from every member of group.
The THRID GROUP also had another creative way to present their information that brought another new medium to the presentations. The website that they used was one I have never heard of before and I liked how it looked and organized all their work into one, actual, timeline. Everyone in the group seemed to have a good handle on the material and each one presented what they were assigned very well. I liked how they focused more on the musical aspect of the internet and how it has forever changed the way that we obtain music, whether those means are legal or illegal. I also liked how they gave the court cases and how they impacted the rest of the online music industry as well.
Overall I felt that each and every group did a great job in completely the task that was assigned to us in their own individual way that was unique to them. For this reason I enjoyed this project. It was open to interpretation and we were able to put our own blend of personality into the way we felt we should present the internet in the form of a timeline.
